Draftitus – a common blogging affliction?

As you can see from the two posts I have actually published – I am suffering from what I have termed ‘draftitus’ – the symptoms are:

  • At least 4 draft posts awaiting concluding and publishing
  • A gap of at least 1 month since the last post
  • Not havingĀ  narrow enough subject matter and being too tangenital
  • A tendency to read other peoples blogs and comment on them rather than finish your own posts

Anyone else afflicted? Or is it just me?

  1. Hi – There’s one way to overcome this, which I’ve found extraordinarily effective, if totally exhausting: commit to your readership that you’ll blog every day. Indeed, stake your whole reputation as a blogger on it… That’ll stop you procrastinating!
(Actually, my advice would be to commit to ‘weekly’ frequency – work/life balance, and all that…)

  2. Hiya eazibee! :)

Wow – Reasonstobehopeful – almost a years worth of daily posts – that is an impressive commitment to blogging! I think that is a good strategy as long as you aren’t afraid of commitment ;-)

After today’s little trouble with something as mundane as troubleshooting wireless connection problems following XP SP3 (the tricky bit was finding other people out there who have had a similar problem!) – I have realised that I spend a lot of time trying to solve annoying problems that other people might actually benefit from, so I am going to start detailing some problems and solutions, and hopefully save some people a bit of tedium in their lives by condensing my own experience into a blog post :)

    At least weekly…
